Last weekend I went for little history trip from my college to Gettysburg (Pennsylvania). It was terribly cold but it didn't stop us from following the 3 days of he battle. For the most 'wow' stuff up there were the number of monuments, which is 1327!!! I know it is crazy. Below are some pics from the trip and the short note what was the Battle of Gettysburg all about.
The
Battle of Gettysburg (July 1–3, 1863), fought in and around the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as part of the Gettysburg Campaign, was the battle with the largest number of casualties in the American Civil War
and is frequently cited as the war's turning point.
Union Maj. Gen.
George Gordon Meade's Army of the Potomac defeated attacks by Confederate
Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia, ending Lee's invasion of the North.
