Prologue

Barszczyk is finishing her third semester of B.A.  Degree studies of English Filology. However, after all this time she does not to comfortable speaking English as well as writing in it. 'What to do?' 'How to change it?" She asked herself over and over. She knew that the easiest solution would be to spent some time in English-speaking country. "But where?" Barszczyk started to think about Ireland as some of her friends lived there or try different solution. She did not know yet that the perfect solution will come right to her soon in the most unexpected way!
Chapter I - Unexpected

January 2007, at one winter evening during the third semester of studying exams, Barszczyk being bored from studying decided to check the SPAM FOLDER in her email. On the top od the spam list there was something called "work and learn English in USA for one year-experience an aventure". Of course, Barszczyk clicked on it, then read a little bit but it said that to know more she will have to go on one of the informational meetings in Warsaw. She checked the only, but till maybe, posibble Saturday for her - in order to have that Saturday free was to pass all hr exams. And she passed!
Barszczyk moved on her short trip to Warsaw, had hard time to find the Cultural Care office (it was in different addres then it is now). She got there somehow, there few oher people at the meetng. During the meeting a lady named Magda was telling all but the au pair program (she was an au pair as well). There was also a another gay (whose name is not important here), who showed his travel pictures. The meeting for Barszczyk ended with small interview, where she was ask many question about why she wants to be au pair, does she has eny childcare experience, if she ill go to USA what would she do with children on their free time ect. the question were first in Polish then in Englsih (to check EN level). Barszczyk passed the English lvel very well which was very surprising for her. She got many docuents to filll them up for the aplication to be an au pair. There was a promotion that if she fill all the documents before the end of May she will not have to pay the progrm fee :D

Chapter II - Desicion

From January meeting date to almost the end of May time was chasing Barszczyk. Even she decided to fill up all the document just in case she will make up her mind and go to USA as au pair, she did so with so much storm head. There was plenty of question such as :Is it safe?", "What if I willnot get along with the family?", "What if something bad will happen? - I can't simply pack my suitcase and go back home..how? swim across the ocean?". I never heard about the program before, She didn't know anybody who was au pair before. There was so much unknown to make the final decision. The time however was inevitable, Barszczyk knew that to go she have to submit her aplication before the promotion ends... and she did it!

All the documnent were find, write and done, photo collage was made, doctor, references all set. She sent it to Warsaw and wait. Soon she got a message back from Cultural Care that her aplication is accepted and that soon she should expect her new online accout (room) where she will be able to see her matches.

The link to Barszczyk room got to her on Friday right before her finals for thesecond year of studying. Along with the linkin the email was the message that the matching provess can last eve a few weeks. As Barszczyk has so muc to study and few exams during the following two days she checked the room twice just for curiosity - and go back to her knowledge improving.!

June 2007, Two days of many exams were really exhausting, during her way home on Sunday she simply fall asleep. However, it didn;t last long, her telephone rang! She woke up. looked at the cell and saw reall strange number. She answered and there was a lady speaking in English from Boston, saying that an American family would like to call her right now and asking if that is ok? She was shocked! It was only to days after the opening of her room and she already had her FIRST MATCH!

Even more, the family wanted to call her already. But she was in the bus, hardly hearing anything and this was what Barszczyk answered to the lady from Boston. Woman said that the family can call her in one hour if that is better for her, Barszczyk agreed (she should be home within 40 minutes). As the matter of fact, that evening traffic on the road was bigger and the full trip home last for Barszczyk almost an hour. She came into the house, run really fast to the computer to check th family she will talk to soon.
What she found was the couple with one boy (13months) and another baby to be born. She saw thay live near Annapolis Maryland and checked that on the map and... that it as Barszczyk heard the ring of her phone. It was them her first match calling.
The conversation was rather short mostly Kristy was talking and asking questions, util Barszczyk ask about the usage of internet to connect with Poland. Then Mike start to talk a lot that the t have laptop here and there and there is wifi everythere bla bla bla bla... (before she could only hear his laughs in background).

The family decided that they want Barszczyk and Barszczyk agreed that she wants them. That was it! Two days, little knowledge and a perfect match!
